Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent* (Lent is the 40 day period before Easter Sunday, excluding Sundays and a few minor variations in the church calendar). On Ash Wednesday ashes are placed onto the foreheads of the faithful in the sign of the cross to remind them of Christ's death, of the sorrow one should feel for his or her sins, and of the necessity of repenting, which is turning from sin and turning to God. The ashes are obtained from burned palm branches from the Palm Sunday of the previous year.Many believe the practice of placing ashes onto the forehead began in 1091 A.D. by the Roman Catholic church. However, the custom of placing ashes onto the head as a sign of repentance dates back to Old Testament times: "So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes. I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed: 'O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with all who love him and obey his commands, we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws.'"

Ode to Kung Fu

I joined a Dojo. It was mainly for a tai chi class. After going to three/four other places trying out their tai chi classes, I found one I liked. It just happened to be at a dojo. I'm really liking my desion on this. Why you might ask?

1. The class size is very small, which means I can ask questions to see if I'm doing the moves right.
2. the instructor isn't some prevert starring at my chest the whole time.
3. They explain the reasons why we do they moves , and how later they can be used for self defence.
4. They focus only on tai chi, they don't mix in yoga with it.
5. the shoes they make you wear, make you really think about balance.

Christian Bale is one actor that only gets better in every movie. He has gone from a swing kid all the way up to Batman. He has played only bad ass roles. There is nothing Christian Bale can't do. The newest movie he is in is 3:10 to Yuma. I give it a "A". " A " for awesome! :)

The curse of the dreadful pink eye

when I was little, I would always get pink eye around April every year. It always went through my birthday too. It was a common fact that every year I got pink eye. Once I got older, It went away and never came back. Well, last Monday I woke up with my throat a little sore. I made sure a drank a lot of water. Next morning, I woke up with a sore throat and a hangover. Wednesday i woke up with a sore throat and mucus. Great.....
At this point I was drink tons of water, juices, and taking halls cough drops.
Didn't help.
My Friday, it was so bad. I calmed to myself that I was sick, and me trying to prevent this didn't work. So I rested all Friday, had not solid foods, tons of liquids, and by that night, it was SO much better! It seemed that it went away. It was so good in fact, that I went out with friends that night. The next morning, that alarm went off, and my right eye was not able to open.It felt like someone super glued my eye shut.
Shit!
There was no indication that I was getting pink eye. I was up til 2 or 3 in he morning, and I looked at myself in the mirror before going to bed. No redness.
It took a half an hour with a hot cloth over my eye before it was able to open. I washed my face, got dressed , called in sick for work, and went straight to the doctor. Not only at this point did I have pink eye, but a chest/mucus cold at the same time. The doctor gave me eye drops, and medicine. I have been sitting in bed for two day watch My so called life thinking of all the stuff I need to get done.

New year

Welcome to the year 2008!

I ended the year 2007 with good friends, a good time, and a good New year's kiss.

I went into the year 2008 with a good outlook on life.

I'm just going with the flow for what 2008 brings me.
